Allen ISD 6th Grade Curtis Cluster Concert
Monday, December 16th - 7:00 P.M.
Dear Parents/Guardians of Sixth Grade Choir Students,
On Monday, December 16th, at 7:00 P.M., the Anderson, Cheatham, Lindsey, Marion, Olson, Preston, and Reed Sixth Grade Choirs as well as the Curtis Choir will be performing their annual Curtis Cluster Concert at the Performing Arts Center at Allen High School.
WHERE AND WHEN
On that Monday morning at 9:00 A.M., the elementary choirs will go by bus to the Allen High School Performing Arts Center. We will rehearse from 9:30 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. with the other choirs and our Curtis Middle School choir director, Mrs. Sadafsaz. Students are only allowed to attend the rehearsal if they will be at the concert that evening. It is an expectation that students will be at the performance in the evening.
The concert will take place that evening at 7:00 P.M. at the Allen High School Performing Arts Center. Students will need to arrive at the High School for the concert by 6:00 P.M so they can rehearse with the Curtis Choir. Again, all choir students are expected to attend the concert and the morning rehearsal. All of the choirs have spent a great deal of time working on the pieces that will be performed and we look forward to sharing the results of our combined efforts. If your child is unable to attend the rehearsal and performance then a make-up assignment will be given to them which will be due on December 19th.
On the evening of their performance, students will need to wear their red choir shirt, blue jeans, tennis shoes (no sandals or boots) and a plain Santa’s hat (normal length with no wording, bells, lights….). Dress for the rehearsal in the morning will be regular school clothes.
IMPORTANT TIPS FOR REHEARSAL
Please ensure that your child gets a good night’s sleep, eats breakfast, and drinks fluids before coming to school that day. A two hour rehearsal can be intense. Our choir will do better if they are physically prepared. I advise the students to dress in layers so that they can shed down to a light-weight T-shirt if they become hot during rehearsal. The lights on the stage are warm! For good vocal health it is also important to start now to properly hydrate. Like an athlete preparing for a race, they should be drinking plenty of water before the event. Thank you so much for helping your child prepare for a successful experience.
Please complete the permission slip by December 11th!! A copy has gone home with all students, and may also be found on my webpage.
