    Counseling Program Mission Statement

    Boyd’s School Counseling Program provides a comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the collaboration for academic, soial, emotional and learning development of all students.  In partnership with educators, families and the community Boyd’s counseling program facilitates the support system to ensure all Vaughan students have access, knowledge and skills to realize their full potential.

     

    Delivery System

    Counseling services are provided at Boyd in four ways.

    1. School Guidance Curriculum:  classroom instruction, group activities, interdisciplinary curriculum
    2. Responsive Services:  consultation, individual and small-group counseling, crisis counseling/response, referrals, peer facilitation 
      (Individual students and small groups of selected students for a variety of reasons such as behavioral concerns, attendance concerns, academic concerns, family/life changes, friendship issues, anxiety)
    3. Individual Student Planning:  individual or small-group appraisal, individual or small-group advisement
    4. System Support:  professional development, consultation, collaboration and teaming, program management and operation

    Guidance Curriculum

    Allen ISD Counselors provide guidance in these areas throughout the school year in alignment with Texas law and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Mindsets and Behaviors.
