Collin County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Appreciation Day: Art Contest

  • Students from all Collin County schools are invited to enter the 2019 Second Annual Collin County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Appreciation Day Art Contest.

    Winners will be awarded in elementary, middle school and high school categories. Posteers will be printed using the three winning designs and will be displayed as part of the 219 MLK Jr. Appreciaton Day activities.

    Contest theme: "His Dream Still Lives"

    Contest entries must be submitted by November 12, 2018. See below for the contest rules.

    Guidelines:

    1. Theme for Contest is: “His Dream Still Lives.”  Artwork is partly judged for it’s connection to theme

    2. One entry per student. Students in any Collin County public or private school may enter.

    3. Two-Dimensional works only

    5. All entries must be original, no copy work will be allowed.

    6. Maximum 2-D size including mat is 18” x 24”

    7. Entry must be accompanied by entry form with permission slip taped to the back.

    8. Entry must be submitted by Nov. 12, 2019 at 4 p.m.

    9. Art can be delivered to one of the following three locations:

    • Allen ISD Administration Building, 612 East Bethany Drive, Allen, Texas 75002  (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.)
    • Blue House Too at Watters Creek, 934 Watters Creek Blvd, Allen (Wednesday-Saturday, 2 p.m. - 8 p.m.)
    • McKinney ISD Administration Building, 1 Duvall Street, McKinney  (Monday-Friday,  8 am - 4 p.m.)

    10. Winning pieces will be displayed at the MLK Appreciation Day event on Jan. 21, 2019. Other entries may also be displayed digitally at the event.

    Contest Categories:

    Group A: K-5th Grade

    Group B: 6th–8th Grade

    Group C: 9th–12th Grades

    Awards:

    Certificates and poster reproductions will be awarded to the winner in each group.

    The Best of Show artwork will also be used for the event program cover.

    I agree to allow my son’s/daughter’s original artwork to be displayed as part of the Collin County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Appreciation Day activities.  In doing so, I release the Collin County MLK Jr.  Celebration Committee from any and all responsibility in the event of loss or damage to the artwork. I understand that effort will be made to insure the safe care of my child’s work. Finalists will have their work on display and the overall winner’s design will be used for the event program on January 21, 2019.
