Academic Information for Families

  • Digital Learning Tools for Both In-Person and At-Home Learners

Although students may be learning through different instructional models, Allen ISD is committed to providing consistency in high-quality instruction while utilizing relevant learning tools with all students.  The district will use Google Classroom and Canvas as our learning management systems to streamline all digital tools, academic communication, and content to provide a connected learning experience.

To engage in relevant academic work, grades Prekindergarten through 6 students will utilize Google Classroom and Seesaw while grades 7 through 12 will continue to utilize Canvas.

  • Video Conferencing Platforms

Teachers will utilize Google Meet or Zoom as the video conferencing tools for live learning interactions with students. Teachers will provide grade-level appropriate guidance and expectations for students as they learn how to use Google Meet or Zoom. Students will join live sessions using a link shared by their teachers in either Google Classroom or Canvas. The Student Code of Conduct standards will apply to students attending a live learning session.

  • Remote Asynchronous Instruction Plan 2020-2021

Due to the continued impact resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and waiver authority provided to the Commissioner of Education in Texas Education Code §48.005(n), the Texas Education Agency will use this waiver authority to provide districts with new options for determining daily attendance for the 2020-2021 school year. Allen ISD is offering students an option for a remote instructional delivery model through At-Home Learning during the 2020-2021 school year. Allen ISD will utilize the option of the Remote Asynchronous Instruction funding method for all grade levels Prekindergarten through Grade 12. The Texas Education Agency required districts to submit a Remote Asynchronous Instruction Plan for review and approval to earn average daily attendance (ADA) funding. The Plan determines the daily engagement, instructional materials, progress monitoring, and teacher supports that students receive in order to earn daily attendance.
