The SOAR 2030 process built upon the Allen High School graduate profile that was created during the last community strategic-planning process in 2012. Community members at that time identified what skills our graduates should possess. They identified four goals stating that AHS graduates would be effective problem solvers, responsible and engaged citizens, academically prepared for future pursuits, and effective communicators.
The SOAR 2030 Committee was comprised of approximately 200 parents, staff members, students, and community members. Using an inclusive process, committee members were charged with ensuring Allen ISD is preparing its graduate for life. Working within smaller committees, participants focused on how students learn, what we teach, and what skills our students will need beyond graduation.SOAR 2030 Operational Planning CommitteeCommittee timeline: September 2019 - February 2020The SOAR 2030 Operational Planning Committee’s goal was to ensure that the district’s operational efforts were aligned with the expectations of our parents and community. A few of the areas this committee studied included:
- Classroom design
- Hallway spaces
- Safety and security systems
- Transportation
- Maintenance
- Technology
- Details like walls and windows
The SOAR 2030 Operational Planning Committee spent considerable hours and many evenings touring our buildings and speaking with district experts to help set a baseline for the expectations of student-learning spaces throughout the district. This committee also completed a SWOT analysis to consider the strengths and weaknesses and examine potential areas of improvement.
