2022-2023 Pre-K Information

Allen ISD offers a half-day prekindergarten program and a full-day prekindergarten program for students who are 4 years old by Sept. 1st, live within the boundaries of Allen ISD, and must meet at least one of the state’s eligibility criteria.
The full-day program currently consists of two full-day monolingual prekindergarten classes and two full-day bilingual prekindergarten classes. All four full-day classes are located at Rountree Elementary. There are currently no available seats for the full-day monolingual prekindergarten program. A Prekindergarten Lottery Process was utilized for the full-day prekindergarten selection process. In order for a student to be entered into the Prekindergarten Lottery Process for the 2022-2023 school year, families had to complete the prekindergarten enrollment process and submit all required documentation by Thursday, May 26, 2022. Families received an email notification of selection or waitlist during the week of June 20th.

Once the pre-qualification form is complete, you will be contacted via email by the Allen ISD Prekindergarten Enrollment Clerk.
Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for enrollment in prekindergarten, the child must be 4 years old on or before September 1st, live in Allen ISD attendance zone, AND meet at least one of the state's eligibility requirements:
- The child is Limited English Proficient (not fluent in English). The child will be given an English proficiency test to determine this qualification.
- The child’s family meets the federal income guidelines for the National School Lunch Program.
- The child is homeless.
- The student is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces.
- The student is the child of a parent who was killed or injured while serving on active duty.
- The child is currently or was previously in foster care.
- The student is the child of a peace officer, a firefighter, or an emergency medical first responder who is eligible for the Star of Texas Award.

Is my child required to attend prekindergarten if he or she is eligible?
No. Pre-K is not mandatory. However, when a child is enrolled in Prekindergarten, a child must attend school. All students are subject to compulsory school attendance rules while they are enrolled in school. If a child has not reached 6 years of age as of September 1 of the current school year, the child may be withdrawn from school without violating compulsory attendance rules. TEC §25.085(c)

When is the 2022-2023 Pre-K registration event?
Pre-K enrollment occurs online and opens April 1, 2022. Enrollment is ongoing throughout the year.

Where is the prekindergarten program located?
The half-day prekindergarten program is located at Cheatham Elementary and Rountree Elementary. The full-day prekindergarten program is located at Rountree Elementary. Cheatham Elementary is located at 1501 Hopewell Dr. Allen, Texas 75013. Rountree Elementary is located at 800 E. Main St., Allen, Texas 75002.

The school hours for the full-day program are 7:45-2:55.

I would like my child to attend the Pre-K program but my child misses the age requirement to be 4 by just a few days, can I still enroll him/her?
No, in order for a child to be enrolled in our 4 year old program the child must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1st of the enrolling school year.

Will Pre-K students take a nap in a full-day program?
Yes, students will take a nap in the full-day program.
