• Math: 

    We transition into learning and using area and perimeter next. Students will be able to find the area and perimeter of rectangles and compound shapes. Students will also be able to solve real worlld problems using area and perimeter.


    Unit 7 (January 17-February 3): Students will learn to observe and identify slow changes to the earth's surface caused by weathering, erosion, and deposition from water, wind, and ice. Vocabulary words and other helpful review materials can be found in Google Classroom (Unit 8) and STEMScopes.  


    Using our fiction units of study and our mentor text, Tiger Rising, by Kate DiCamillo, we will be examining the plot elements in a story to determine the theme of the story. We will also look at all the parts of the story and determine how our thinking has changed as we have uncovered the elements of the story and how our characters have evolved.


    We are writing personal narratives using the writing process (Brainstorming/Planning, Drafting, Revising, Editing & Publishing). This week we will be editing our personal narrative essay and working on creating stronger leads (introductions).

    Texas History:

    We will be learning about the major events that led up to the Texas Revolution. Some of the events we will be studying will be The Battle of Gonzalez, The Battle of Goliad,The Battle of The Alamo, The Battle of San Jacinto, and The Treaty of Velasco.
