SHACs assist the districts in ensuring that local community values are reflected in health education instruction. Additionally, SHACs play an important role in strengthening the connection between health and learning. They can help parents and community stakeholders reinforce the knowledge and skills children need to stay healthy for a lifetime.

Allen ISD students will reach their full personal, health, and academic potential.

To build a healthy school community through a whole school, whole community, and whole child model that ensures all children will graduate with the knowledge and skills to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

To promote school health by reviewing and recommending policies and procedures in the following areas of focus to Allen ISD decision-makers that impact the overall wellness of students, staff, and families in Allen ISD:

1. Support a healthy and safe school environment that fosters learning
2. Establish healthy behaviors that last a lifetime
3. Strengthen academic success by enriching health and physical activity opportunities
4. Champion the practice of coordinated school health (CSH) by effectively implementing the following CSH components:

• Health Education and Services

• Physical Education and Physical Activity

• Nutrition Environment and Services

• Counseling, Psychological, and Social Services

• Social and Emotional Health

• Physical Environment

• Employee Wellness

• Family and Community Engagement
