Grades 1-3: Cultural Storytelling - How will you share your story?
During this upcoming year, our 1st-3rd graders will be exploring story telling throughout the ages and across multiple cultures. Every culture and civilization have a story to tell. As we dive into one civilization after another, we will examine the stories behind what has made that culture unique and interesting and how they chose to tell their stories throughout time. At the end of the year, our students will be involved in a storytelling festival in which they will tell one of their own family stories in one of the formats that we will be learning about throughout the year.
Grades 4-6: The 1920s: Critical Thinking Through History
Our 4th-6th graders will be traveling back in time to the 1920's to discover how life one hundred years ago has significantly contributed to the society that we live in today. Our society has evolved significantly over the last century and will we explore how those changes took place over time and how we can both appreciate and learn from our past while preparing for our future. Throughout the year we will be investigating a variety of topics which will culminate in a 1920's showcase at the end of the year.
