Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. McClendon

It's hard to believe that I am about to embark on my 27th year serving in the field of Education.  As I begin my first year in Allen ISD, I am thrilled to be a Cheatham Charger and a part of the Preston Pride. I was born in West Monroe, Louisiana, but my family relocated to a small town outside of Beaumont, Texas when I was very little. I consider myself a born and raised Texan, because Texas is all I have ever known.

I graduated from Lamar University with my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education Degree with a specialization in Early Childhood Education. I have since earned certifications in Special Education, ESL and Gifted and Talented. I obtained my master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas Woman’s University. I am also a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and Licensed Dyslexia Therapist (LDT) in the state of Texas.

My husband BJ and I have a 19-year-old son that attends the University of Arkansas and a 14-year-old daughter. We enjoy spending time with our friends and family, traveling and watching our kids play the sports they love. I LOVE teaching and I LOVE kids! I can still recall playing school as a child and wanting to grow up to be a teacher. This profession brings me such joy and I feel so blessed to be able to live out my childhood dreams here in Allen.
