I grew up in Beeville, Texas as the youngest of three kids. I have one brother and one sister. I lived there until I went to Hardin-Simmons University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Education in elementary education and a minor in music. I am certified to teach K-8 general education, music, ESL, and Gifted & Talented. I taught kindergarten and first grade for seven years in Ft. Worth ISD and Abilene ISD before being a stay-at-home mom for sixteen years.
I have been happily married to Chad for thirty-four years. Our oldest son, Austin, lives and works in Allen. My daughter, Lauren, graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Plant and Soil Science. She is a instructor of Plant and Soil Science at West Texas A & M in Canyon, Texas. Both of my children attended Vaughan K-6.
My love for teaching began as a young child, watching my mother teach kindergarten. After moving to Allen in 1997, I was a substitute teacher for ten years exclusively at Vaughan before coming on staff full time in August 2008. Studying the world and its cultures has fascinated me since I was a child. I hope to pass on a love for our world to your child as well as the scientific systems that make up and affect that world.
