• Influenza Information

With the start of school, there is always an increase in communicable illness. Here are a few guidelines to help keep our students safe, healthy and ready to learn:

    • To prevent the spread of colds and flu, stress to your student the importance of washing hands, coughing and sneezing into the crook of the elbow and reporting when they don’t feel well.

    • If your child is not feeling well, please check their temperature with a thermometer before sending them to school. Using a thermometer is the only accurate way to assess temperature. Please do not just feel the forehead.

    • If their temperature is at or above 100o please keep them home. They may return to school when they are fever-free without medication for 24 hours. Today's school setting includes students who are medically fragile. Influenza can be a particularly difficult illness for these children, and keeping your sick child home is important.

    • If you have questions or concerns regarding your student's health, please feel free to call your nurse at (972) 908-8203.
