Twentieth Century TopicsWelcome back to IB History! I'm looking forward to a great year learning about twentieth century topics!
As preparation for the IB World Topics exam, students will study the causes and effects of war, authoritarian states, and the Move to Global War. Additionally, students will also complete an in-depth analysis for their internal assessment requirement. Document analysis and historiography are major components of the student’s ability to understand historical phenomenon. Students are expected to take the IB exam in May.
History of the AmericasWelcome to the first year of IB History! In this year we will cover the Paper 3 topics of Emergence of Americas in global affairs, Second World War, Cold War and Civil Rights. We will also cover the state required topics so you are ready for STAAR.
This is the first year of a two year course of study. In year one, students will study the region of the Americas from colonization to the present. This is a comparative course, which will integrate the histories of Latin America, Canada and the United States. It is designed to promote an awareness and understanding of the countries in the Western Hemisphere where students are introduced to the common experiences in the Americas through a comparative analysis of cultural, political, social, and economic issues. Students will experience the historian’s craft by analyzing primary source documents and wrestling with historiographical issues in the quest to understand the past.
