Welcome to Cheatham Elementary. To be a part of a beautiful school in our community is truly an honor.
My family moved to Allen 23 years ago, I left teaching to stay home for 12 years with my 3 children, and treasure all those memories. They are now graduates of Allen HS taking on lives of their own. Allison is a Graduate from The University of Arkansas with a Masters in Education and will be starting her 3rd year teaching kindergarten in Anchorage, Alaska. Michael has returned home from The United States Marine Corps, and attending Texas A&M for engineering. Lauren is entering her senior year for electrical engineering. This is my 13th year as an SSI teacher in Allen, 10 of them here at Cheatham. I enjoy exercising, reading a good book, sewing, and making afghans for family and friends.
I have 3 amazing paraprofessionals returning this year: Megan Ahearn, Julie Baker, and Lisa Feeney. You can get to know them by meeting the SSI Team on my website.
What is SSI? It formally means Student Success Initiative. What does that mean? I will spend additional time working with students K-6 giving support to the classroom teachers with reading and math objectives during their recharge time. This allows us to help ensure that children receive additional help with minimal or no loss of instruction. We emphasize strategies and relationship for comprehending reading and math material at each student's grade level to help them be more successful in all areas of their content learning.
