Welcome Cheatham Chargers! My name is Cassie Luther, RN BSN. I am the school nurse at Cheatham Elementary. Prior to opening Cheatham in the 2010-2011 school year, I was the nurse at Boon Elementary for 3 years.
I am a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. I have always worked as a Pediatric Nurse. I worked at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO for 2 years. After my daughter was born in 2000, I began working for a group of local Pediatricians in Lee's Summit, MO. I worked with that practice for 6 years until my husband accepted a job in Dallas. We relocated to Allen in 2006 and I started working at Boon Elementary at the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year after subbing at Boon in the clinic the previous year. My husband and I have 1 daughter, Grace, who is currently a Senior at Allen High School.
I try to make the clinic an easy place to come if needed. My goal is to care for the students and make it possible for them to stay in class during the school day. I do not routinely call parents on a child's first clinic visit of the day. I have the students try class again. Frequently, they do not return to the clinic for the remainder of the day.
Communication is my motto! I try very hard to communicate with students, parents, and teachers in many ways including: newsletter notifications, letters home, phone calls, and emails. The easiest way to get a hold of me during school hours is via email. I am usually busy with students all day long, so phone calls are typically hard to answer. Feel free to leave a message on my voicemail and I will return your call at the end of the day.
