    Welcome to AIM!

    "Activating Inquisitive Minds"

Hello!  My name is Julie McGary, and I couldn't be more excited or honored to be teaching AIM at Bolin this year.  This is my 17th year in education and my 10th at Bolin.  I have worked with students in Kindergarten through 9th grade, so I know where they have been AND where they are going.

I have loved the diverse experiences I have had in both secondary and elementary education.  My certifications include Early Childhood - 6, Gifted & Talented, English as a Second Language, English Language Arts (6 - 12), French (6 - 12), and a Learning Resources Endorsement.  I began my education career in the Richardson ISD. At the same junior high I attended as a student, I taught 7th grade Language Arts and 7th – 9th grade French classes. After four years in the classroom, I decided to obtain my Master’s of Library and Information Studies through Texas Woman’s University.  I enjoyed three years in the Library Media Specialist position before choosing to stay at home to start a family with my husband Paul.

My husband and I have two daughters - one is a 7th grade Humanities student at Ford Middle School, and the other is in the Phoenix program at Allen High School.  During football season, you can find us cheering on the Eagles and watching Delaney march with the band.  We're a busy family with music lessons and volleyball and basketball practices and games, but we try to find time for an occasional family night at the movies.

With Bolin's continued adventure-themed year, my students will be asked to "Find JOY in the journey!" We will also make an intentional effort to cultivate their leadership qualities and skills. I will continue to challenge them to use GRIT and a GROWTH MINDSET both inside and outside the AIM classroom to face their fears and achieve their personal goals.  For other Bolin students looking for a challenge, I continue to collaborate with the teachers on Genius Hour, STEAM and Makerspace opportunities. This will give Bolin students an opportunity to use the design process as well as explore their passions while they research, discover, and develop creative products in order to share what they learn about a personal topic of interest.

We are all anticipating another great year here at Bolin.  With parent support and encouragement, I look forward to ensuring an enriching experience full of excitement, achievement, and success for all Bolin students!
