The Foundation For Allen Schools is excited to announce its grant awards for the 2022-2023 school year in Allen ISD will be its largest dollar amount to date: $249,255 to fund 126 grants across the entire district. Of these grants, more than $85,000 will focus on math grants including a $52,000 grant which will impact every Kindergartner and first grade student in the district.
“Over the last four years, the Foundation has invested about $125,000 in grant funding for each school year. For the 2022-2023 year we are so excited to double that amount of funding! We are supporting Allen students and teachers with a quarter of a million dollars that will expand and enhance their daily learning experiences in the next school year,” said Karen Simpson, president of the Foundation board.
The Foundation’s mission is to support classroom innovation and provide educational opportunities for Allen ISD teachers and staff. Each year educators and staff are invited to submit a grant application and request funding for an innovative project, special field trip, additional classroom resources or equipment, or an idea that expands learning opportunities.
“These projects and programs would not happen without the Foundation,” explained Regina Taylor, foundation director. “They are not covered by state funding but are made possible by the generosity of our community, our employee donors, local businesses and individuals who want to support excellence in education here in Allen.”
The Foundation grants for 2022-2023 cover multiple curriculum areas including math, science, English-Language Arts, early childhood education, ESL, physical education, fine arts, and more. More than 300 teachers will be involved in the grant program.
“That is one of the most rewarding parts of raising money to fund these grants,” Taylor added. “Our teachers always want to do more for their students, make learning that much more interesting, be innovative! Through the Foundation’s grant program, they receive some help to make these ideas come alive and they are not paying out of their own pockets to do so. We are very honored to partner with our teachers and a partner with our district.”
