Funding Scholarships for Allen High School Seniors
Each November, the senior class at Allen High School is invited to apply for a variety of locally funded scholarships, organized onto one application by the Foundation. The goal of the Community Scholarship Application is to streamline the process for students, encourage more students to apply, and provide quality applicants to the local funding organizations and businesses.
For the past 15 years, the Foundation has awarded scholarships to students through the generosity of donors. We are excited to announce that, including the Class of 2017, the Foundation has awarded over $577,000 dollars in student scholarships!
Scholarships are made possible by donations from community members, current and former Allen ISD families, alumni, civic groups, campus PTAs, retired teachers and area businesses. Scholarships typically range between $500 and $3,000.
Types of Scholarships
The Foundation offers a variety of scholarships ranging from those funded on an annual basis to endowed scholarships in which the principal gift is invested with the earnings awarded. Scholarship awards are sent directly to colleges, universities or trade schools, and the students may use the funds for tuition, room and board, fees and books.
How to Apply
Allen High School seniors may apply for a Foundation scholarship by completing the Community Scholarship Application. Locally funded scholarships are available from over 40 businesses, groups, and individuals, requiring the completion of only one application! Many community groups offer multiple awards.
The application becomes available on the Foundation website in November of each year. The deadline for submission of the completed application and all supporting documents is in January.
Scholarships will be awarded at the annual Foundation For Allen Schools Scholarship Reception in April. Each applicant will receive an email in early to mid April informing them of whether or not they will receive a scholarship.
