Thank you for visiting my web page - I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade ELA at Anderson again this year!

    Hello all,

My name is Shannon Swain and I am super thrilled to be teaching this year! Coming back onto campus 100% is such a huge blessing and can't even contain my excitement! This "new normal" has  tough to get used to, hasn't it??  This is my 21st year of teaching and I felt like a brand new teacher last year learning to teach virtually! Some adjustments will still be necessary, but we got this! We learned that we can do hard things, create new habits and rituals, and remain a strong class family through anything - even a pandemic!!

I am happily married to the coolest guy in the world, Van, and we have 2 awesome kids, Jordan and Averey. We also have 2 dogs, Addie and Pax. We enjoy eating at new places, can't wait to start traveling, we love our neighborhood and do lots of things with our neighbors, and love being outside. You can almost always find us on our pation or on our golf cart most evenings just driving around.

I am originally from Minnesota where I completed my bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders (Speech Pathology).  I moved to Texas following graduation and pledge to live in the south for the rest of my days - MN winters are no joke! I moved to Lubbock and was a nanny until I met my husband and graduated with my master's from Texas Tech - Guns up! We moved to Allen in 2013 so that I could begin working for Anderson.

Previously, I taught 8 years in 3rd grade and 7 years in Pre-K and Kinder. I have mentored college lab students during my time teaching Pre-K at Texas Tech, monitored and supervised student teachers and continue to pursue my long-term goal of teaching future teachers. I have a passion for reading and writing, and I am excited to pass that love on to your children.

5th grade is always a new challenge with higher expectations for students, and comes with tremendous growth. I know that we will have a TON of fun too! Camp, STEAM center, Enterprise City (hopefully), lots of great opportunities lay ahead!

Please know that my door is always open. I truly look forward to growing and learning as I teach your children!
