Allen ISD Diversity Showcase: Soaring Together!
Allen ISD will celebrate its diverse population with the event "Soaring Together," on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Commons.
Allen ISD students may sign up to give a performance (examples include an Indian dance or Jamaican drummers), and/or set up a cultural table (example include cultural artifacts, origami, henna tattoos, etc..). Please note that direct sales are prohibited, and tables may only be used for informational purposes. Food and drink are also prohibited from the cultural tables. Please note: To ensure that everyone is able to perform, performances must be limited to no more than 5 minutes.
Allen ISD is a diverse community of more than 20,000 students and 2,600 employees and we are proud of the many different backgrounds and cultures that create our district makeup. The Allen ISD Diversity Committee, which is comprised of community leaders and faculty and staff from the campus and administrative levels, was formed to help bring awareness to topics related to our diverse community.
Diversity Committee Vision:
Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members of the community.
Diversity Committee Mission:
The Allen ISD Diversity Committee is dedicated to creating a more inclusive community in all areas which is grounded in respect and appreciation for individual differences. While supporting a broad definition of diversity, the committee will challenge all staff members and students to achieve their maximum potential in a culture that is flexible, open, honest, caring and fair by providing programs and resources that enhance knowledge and encourage understanding of diversity.
