Hello 5th Grade Families!
Welcome to my 5th grade math and science classes! I am excited to find out what this 2021-2022 school year has in store for us! Some of you may know me from 4th grade last year and I can't wait to see all the familiar faces!
Here's a little about me: I grew up in southern California and graduated ffrom San Diego State University with a liberal studies (teaching) degree with a minor in English. I earned my teaching credential and Masters Degree in education through Chapman University, and am certified in Gifted and Talented Education. I taught 5th grade (all subjects) in Newhall, CA, before moving to Texas to teach 4th grade (all subjects) in Plano. My husband and I now have 3 awesome kiddos and I was able to stay home with them until they were all in school. This will be my 3rd year back teaching and I absolutely love our Norton Community!
I know how precious your children are to you, and I am honored to get them in my class! I promise to love your child like my own as I teach, enrich and challenge him/her. I would love to collaborate with you to make sure the 5th grade teachers and I are meeting all of your kiddo's needs. I have high expectations, and I will expect my students to put forth their best effort in all they do, but I will meet each of my students where they are and challenge/enrich them as needed. It is important they learn that "mistakes" are good. Please feel free to call or email me with questions, concerns, and of course to let me know if we're doing our part well.
For those of you in either my homeroom or Mrs. Wheeler's homeroom, please take a few minutes and fill out this form to help me get to know your child a little faster :)Laura KentSchool Office- 972-396-6918Voicemail- 972-236-0600 ext 5114Email- email@example.com
