I am so excited to be starting my fifth year as assistant principal at the BEST elementary campus in town! I look forward to building relationships with students, parents, staff, and other members of our community to make Bolin the optimal learning environment for every child.
I am starting my 21st year in education. I began my career as a middle school reading teacher in a neighboring district before I moved to Marion Elementary as a charter staff member 13 years ago. I have taught 6th-grade reading and math, in addition to the Student Support Lab. I served as a Campus Intervention Specialist for 5 years before coming to Bolin.
My husband Jason and I have been married for 18 years, and we have three children. Maddie is a sophomore at Allen HS, Jacob is in 7th grade at Ford, and Morgan is two years old. We also have two precious dogs, Odie and Rocket, in addition to our cat, Scout. Our guinea pigs, Rosie and Fern, were the FINAL addition to our family of pets. Officially no more pets for the Wendlands!
I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and my master's degree in educational administration from the University of North Texas. I spend my weekends watching my kiddos play sports...and there's not a thing in the world I'd rather be doing! When I have spare time, I love to read, watch movies, and cookout with friends.
I'm looking forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new ones to the family. It's going to be a great year of empowering learners to reach their full potential!
