Parent Course Selection Meetings
Dear Allen High School Parents and Students,
We are beginning our course selection process for the 2020-2021 school year. In order to build voice and choice for our students regarding their course schedules, we will utilize Arena Scheduling in the Spring. There will be a Canvas module explaining how to complete Arena Scheduling, as well as student and parent meetings in February to help students with the process.
In order to be ready for Arena Scheduling in March, our course selection timeline begins Dec. 3, 2019. Parent meetings will be held the first week in December and students may select their courses between Dec. 3-13, 2019.
We invite all parents to attend a course selection meeting to receive information about how to choose their courses and hints on how to utilize the Academic Planning Guide to make course decisions. Students will be presented course selection information during their math class, however we strongly encourage all students to attend an evening meeting with their parent(s).
The parent meetings will be held from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 3, 4, and 5 in the Performing Arts Center. To best serve our parents and students, we have designated nights alphabetically by last name (see chart below). If you are unable to attend the night you are assigned, please feel free to attend another night. Additionally, this year the Wednesday evening meeting will be livestreamed. The livestream link will be shared prior to the meeting via Skyward and our social media channels.
We look forward to partnering with our students and parents to create a schedule that works to meet their individual goals and take steps to achieving their future plans.
