This gives the team two consecutive state titles. We are pleased to announce 63 Eagles were placed in the three bands. This is twice as many as any other school in the region. Special Scholarships are underwritten by many of the business organizations that also provide Merit Scholarship awards for students who qualify as finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. The show is currently on view at the University of Texas Dallas Fine Arts Gallery.Week of Mar. 2, 2015Fishing Team Anglers Place FirstJuniors Aaron Anderson and David Bushland earned a First Place finish in a field of 91 teams by reeling in three fish totaling 8.52 lbs on a tough day of fishing on Lake Lewisville.Week of Feb. 23, 2015Allen HS Archery Team Wins Back-To-Back State ChampionshipsThe Allen Archery Team, in only it's fourth year of existence, made it's way to Belton, Tx to attend the National Archery In The School's Texas State Championships bringing home the state title in back-to-back years, qualifying them for the upcoming National Tournament. Senior Trevor Hoberg was the men's high score as well as the tournament high score with a 293/300 while Senior Melissa Petterson won the female division with a score of 289/300. Senior Derek Patoskie and Freshman Dorothy Cobb each placed fifth in their respective category.MCJROTC Takes Fourth Place Overall In Only Second CompetitionThe AllenHS MCJROTC recently competed in Regional Drill Competition at Midway HS in Waco, Tx. Competing against fifteen other schools in armed and unarmed drill, color guard, academics, and physical fitness the AHS students placed fourth in only their second competition. The future is bright as they look forward to the next two competitions in Brenham, Tx and Dallas, Tx.AHS Robotics Team Stands Out at FIRST Robotics CompetitionCompeting, for the first time, in the elite FIRST Robotics Competition, the Eagles make their presence known. Placing 20th out of 49 teams is an accomplishment itself but also being recognized as the Rookie Inspiration Award winner and having Sophomore, David Chaparro named to the Deans List (only 2 students of 96 nominees were presented the award) put the Eagles in position to reach further and soar higher.Culinary and Hospitality Team Qualify Eight for State Competition

Allen HS senior, Riestis, who will be attending Fairfield University in Connecticut, in the fall, is the first Allen Lacrosse player to receive a Division 1 scholarship.Week of Feb. 16, 2015Art Students Advance to State CompetitionAllen Visual Arts had 120 students participate and brought home 111 awards at the Regional Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) held on Feb. 21, 2015. The district competition will be held Mar. 28, 2015 at Plano Senior HS.Forty Health Science Students Pass State of Texas Certified Nurse Aide ExamForty students successfully passed the State of Texas Certified Nurse Aide exam. The exam consisted of two parts, a written test and a skills exam that consisted of demonstrating five patient care skills to become a Nurse Examiner.TAFE Students Qualify for NationalsSix students representing the AHS-Texas Association of Future Educators competed at the Teach For Tomorrow Summit at Texas Tech University Feb. 14-15, 2015. All six students were recognized in their field and four will compete at the National Competition in Arlington, Virginia on April 23-25, 2015.Archery Team Wins Ennis TournamentThe Allen Eagle Archery Team won 1st place at the Ennis Archer Tournament on Sat., Feb. 14, 2015 which qualifies three for the National Archery In The Schools Program State Championships in Belton, Texas on Mar. 5, 2015. These Eagles will compete against 1,600 other archers in hopes of winning a 2nd straight State Championship.Week of Feb. 9, 2015AHS Senior Named Presidential Scholar CandidateAllen HS senior, Hannah Wang, has been named as a candidate for the 2015 United States Presidential Scholars Program. Based on SAT or ACT test results, Wang was one of only 3,900 students identified for the prestigious national program.Twelve AHS Students Earn National Merit Finalist HonorsTwelve Allen HS students have been named National Merit Semifinalists and will be eligible to compete for $32 million in scholarships offered in the spring.
