    Dear Parents,

I’m excited to kick off this new school year at Vaughan Elementary! First, let me introduce myself.

My name is Diane Dahl. I live in McKinney with Kevin, my extremely patient husband of 24 years. We have five kids and 10 grandkids between the two of us. I have a Master's of Science degree in Brain-Based Teaching and Learning with an emphasis on literacy from Nova Southeastern University. This is my sixteenth year as a teacher. For the last eight years, I taught 3rd and 4th grade GT RLA in Lovejoy ISD. I'm excited to be a Vaughan Viking now!

This year, your child's thinking will be challenged in new and innovative ways that appeal to a GT brain. As a result, you will probably hear that Mrs. Dahl is crazy (in a fun way)!  In addition to reading, writing, and social studies, students will learn interesting brain facts, how to optimize their brain power, and the science behind the power of a positive mindset! Neurodiversity and plasticity will be key concepts. These ideas will be referenced continually throughout the year. We will have a lot of fun while applying this new knowledge to daily learning.

If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions please feel free to call, email, or send a note with your child. I will be happy to speak with you before school, during my planning time, or after school. Together we will make a great team in your child’s education!

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Dahl
