Welcome to 6th Grade ELA/World Cultures at Lindsey Elementary!

I am excited to share this school year with you, and and I am certain it will be a fantastic year filled with exciting opportunities to learn and lead the LONE STAR WAY!  This is my 4th year at Lindsey and 6th year in Allen ISD where I have been able to serve this wonderful district in so many ways:  as a 3rd grade self contained teacher, a third grade Math teacher, a Math/Science Instructional Coach, and now as your ELA/SS teacher in 6th grade.  Before coming to Lindsey, I taught ELA/SS at the 4th and 5th grade levels in Frisco ISD and North East ISD.  I have also taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade; I feel like sometimes I have gotten to see a little bit of everything in my many years in teaching!

I am also proud to say that so much of what I learned about teaching comes from my undergraduate work at Baylor University (SIC 'EM BEARS) and from my precious teaching family.  My father, aunt, sisters, and brother all taught or are currently teaching here in Texas!  This profession and our students mean the world to me, and I try to live by the words of one of my favorite educators Rita Pierson, "Every child deserves a champion- an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be."

In addition to teaching at Lindsey, I love cooking with my sweet Chuck and spending time with our 6 children and 2 dogs.  We also love working in our yard, playing our music a little loud, watching Big 12 and SEC football, and dancing on the patio!

This year, I am MOST excited about the opportunity to work with this WONDERFUL team of 6th grade teachers to bring the BEST STRATEGIES and LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES possible to Lindsey 6th Graders!
