April Kenely, Assistant Principal
It is truly a blessing to be a member of the Anderson All Star Family! I am honored to serve the teachers, students, parents and community members of my hometown. I look forward to another year of learning, growing and building lasting relationships with students, parents and staff!
I'm originally from the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I grew up in the City of Roses, Portland, OR, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from the University of Portland and my Master's degree at the University of Washington majoring in Special Education. In 2004, my husband Anthony and I relocated to Allen, Texas. After moving to Allen, I took a five-year hiatus to be a stay at home mom to our wonderful daughter Alaina.
In 2009 I returned back to the classroom working in Frisco ISD. During my teaching career, I have had the privilege of teaching 1st-4th grade. I also served in campus leadership roles in Richardson ISD as a Reading Specialist/Dyslexia teacher and an Instructional Coach. Growing teachers has always been my heart; I was able to pursue this passion as a part time Region 10 Educational Service District Consultant for the TEA Literacy Academies. In 2016, I received my Principal Certification through Lamar University, Beaumont, TX.
Anderson Elementary is committed to work collaboratively to ensure the academic success of ALL students! We believe in creating a learning environment where students are not only successful academically, but they develop the skills to understand and manage emotions, set positive goals, feel and show empathy for each other, build and maintain strong relationships and make responsible decisions. Please feel free to reach out to me if you any questions. At Anderson Elementary we are a family, welcome home!
