4th grade Math
Hello 4th-grade families,
I am Carlan Haydu and I will be your child’s fourth-grade math teacher this school year.
This is my fourteenth year teaching at Chandler Elementary. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Louisiana State University and my teaching certification from Collin College. I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to Allen in 1999.
I have two children. My son, Aidan, is studying architecture at Texas Tech and my daughter, Avery, is finishing her last year at the United States Naval Academy studying naval architecture and marine engineering. We also have two sweet dogs, Annie and Ruby.
My goal is to create a positive classroom environment where students are engaged in what we are learning and feel safe to ask questions and express their ideas and opinions with their peers. I want them to feel empowered to be problem solvers!
We use a Pearson math workbook with a supporting online textbook and use those resources to build our math journal throughout the year. Your child can bring home that journal nightly to use for studying and review purposes, it just needs to be brought back to school each day for new entries. We also start using a new online math program called Dreambox to practice our 4th-grade math standards throughout the year.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help your child reach their maximum potential. I am excited for the opportunity to know and work with your child.
By working together at home and school I know that we will have a wonderful and successful fourth grade school year!
