My name is Mrs. Heath and I am the sixth grade mathematics teacher here at Norton. This is my second year teaching 6th grade math at Norton and I cannot wait to get started. I had the opportunity to study at Texas A&M University (Whoop!) and I graduated with an undergraduate degree and a Masters in Education. I recently got married in July of 2019 to my high school sweetheart, Dalton. I am a dog mom to a sweet puppy named Belle, she is a border collie/labrador retriever mix. I enjoy watching sports, going to the movies, spending time with my family, and cooking. My favorite sports teams are the Dallas Mavericks and the Texas Aggies. If you are walking the halls of Norton I would love to meet you and talk about math or sports. My husband and I are looking forward to attending our first Allen Eagles football game this fall.
Sixth grade brings with it new challenges, high expectations, and exciting opportunities to learn. What makes 6th grade Math so exciting is the introduction to negative numbers and the starting blocks of Algebra. In sixth grade you also have the opportunity to take your first Pre-AP course. In this course we cover the same content as the other sections but we seek to dig deeper into concepts and push the difficulty of the problems one step further. All sixth grade students will be pushed and supported in math regarless of the section in order to better understand the "why" behind math procedures.
