Welcome to First Grade! First Grade is such a year of tremendous growth! We grow as readers, we grow as mathematicians, we grow as writers, we grow as scientists, and we grow as friends all while we grow taller, grow bigger feet, and grow new teeth! It is always so amazing as your child's teacher to watch your kiddo also grow in their confidence and independence.
Every day in first grade is a fun new day of discovering, exploring, and creating. My mission each year is to help children grow in their love of learning as that will help to make them life long learners who are always wanting to discover, explore, and create!
Degrees and Certifications:
2019-20 is my 11th year with Allen ISD. I spent my first 10 years at Kerr Elementary teaching SSI, Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade. Kerr is a fabulous place and I enjoyed each minute working with the students and staff there! This year, I am super excited to be beginning my journey at Reed Elementary as a First Grade teacher! Reed is also a fabulous place (of course!) and I've been loving each minute here. I can't wait to see how much my students continue to work and grow this school year!
I am a mom of 3--one boy and two girls. My kids are all young adults and it has been an adventure watching them grow into adulthood and begin to spread their wings. I cannot express how extremely proud of each of my children I am! My son, Coleman, is 23; my daughter, Elizabeth, is 22; and my daughter, Andrea, is 19. My students hear about them all throughout the school year, so I'm sure you will hear a lot about them, too! Coleman, Elizabeth, and Andrea grew up in the Allen Schools, and I am so grateful for the education and experiences they were able to have while they were growing up. It makes me very proud and honored to be a part of the Allen ISD team to be able to help your child have a wonderful experience in our schools, too.
I also have a sweet puppygirl, Phoebe, who is 2. (Well...I had to baby something since my 3 are all grown and flown!! ha!) Phoebe is a yorkie and although she is small, she is mighty. She keeps me hopping each day! (Your kiddos will hear a lot about Phoebe, too!)
