Mrs. Berger's Theater Arts
Welcome! I am so glad you're here. As the theater teacher at Curtis Middle School, it is my job to lead my students on a journey of story telling, saying YES, listening and sharing, dramatic play, stage artistry and creative exploration. In my class you should expect to move, speak, share and try new things. We will support one another always, walk in the shoes of others, find that inner voice and use it! I have worked in theater education since 2005, first at the Dallas Theater Center as a teaching artist, camp coordinator and programs manager. After 7 years, I left the theater for my REAL passion, to teach full time! I was lucky enough to work at Irma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School where I taught Theater Arts to grades 6-12. In the fall of 2015 I had twins and I chose to stay home, although the thought TERRIFIED me. Indeed, stayinghome full time with newborn twins was the hardest thing I've ever done, it was also the more rewarding. Now I am back to the classroom and so happy to be teaching what I love to the smartest generation yet! For my 2020-21 students, I say to you: Get ready! There will be silly games, there will be Shakespeare, we will make things up, we will find ways to make the best of what we have and tell stories along the way. Hold on to your socks.
