Hello Students and Families,
My name is Mr. van der Ziel and I will be teaching BIM I, BIM II and Principles of Business, Marketing and Finance for the 2021-2022 school year. 

This is my second year teaching in Allen and third overall. In 2020-2021 I taught at the High School first semester and Dillard second semester. I have certifications for both Social Studies and Business/Finance.

Prior to becoming an educator, I started my career in sales and then held multiple senior management positions in business. I was in Sales and Management for almost 20 years, loved seeing many new things and meeting new people all over the US and internationally. I had the pleasure to work in and see many different industries and held various roles within the organizations I was a part of. 

I have lived in North Texas for 30 years, attending Southern Methodist University(SMU) in Dallas for undergraduate and earned my MBA in Marketing and Management from SMU later during my management career.

I have been married to my wife Jennifer for over 20 years, she teaches 6th grade in Allen at Anderson Elementary. We have three children and multiple pets. I also coached youth and high school girls and boys lacrosse from 2010 until just recently. We love to go to sporting events, traveling, listening to music and spend time together as a family. We love adventure; hiking, snowboarding, going to the beach or just taking in nature and visiting our awesome national parks!!!

I look forward to working with the students at Allen High School and helping them learn more about business and the opportunities that lie ahead of them when they graduate from Allen in the near future!
