- Norton Elementary
- Welcome
-
I am Raven Lyons, and I will be your child’s 5th grade ELA/SS teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. I am originally from Memphis, TN, and recently moved to Texas a little over a year ago. I now reside in Plano, TX with my Mom and my 3-year-old son. Some of my hobbies are writing, reading, cooking, completing crossword puzzles (or any type of puzzle), and traveling. I recently graduated from Union University with a Masters of Arts Degree in Education, focusing on primary and secondary grades. I am also in the process of finishing my Teachers’ Certification for the state of TX. Upon completing my Masters, I plan to continue my education to become a Doctor of Education. This would be my first full year as a 5th grade teacher, but I have experience working as a Reading Intervention Assistant for Elementary and Middle School in the past. English and Social Studies are both subjects that can be used to tell a story. That is my favorite thing about teaching them. I love to use storytelling and creative writing to connect with my students. I like that they both promote critical thinking and challenge students to analyze and evaluate each other’s way of thinking. I am so excited about the new school year at Norton Elementary and hope that I am able to make the type of impact on your children as all of my teachers and professors have made on me. I am looking forward to a fun and very enlightening semester in the areas of Language Arts and Social Studies. I welcome you all to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. My email contact is Raven.Lyons@allenisd.org. Thank you for allowing me to teach your children and I look forward to providing them with a very cultivated and memorable learning experience.
Sincerely, Raven Lyons
