Hello and Welcome!!
My name is Vidya Anand, and I am excited about teaching Math in 3rd grade this year! I grew up in India and moved to the U.S in 1992 as a grad student. I have a Masters in Engineering, and did some good work there for a while! Having spent years volunteering/teaching students on the side, I knew inherently that being in education to do my bit in lifting up our next generation was indeed my life’s calling!
While this is my first year as a classroom teacher, I’ve actively worked in Intervention/Student support/SPED at Norton, making this my 8th year as an Educator.
My husband and I have lived in the Watters Crossing neighborhood for over 2 decades now and we simply love our community! We have two children, both of whom are Norton Knight Alums! :) My daughter goes to UT Austin and is currently learning all things Business, French, and Linguistics. My son graduated from UT, and is currently working on his Masters in Health Care Administration at Columbia University in NYC.
In my free time, I love to go on walks with my rescue dog, Milo! I also love to cook, watch shows/movies with my family, and play Wordle! My favorite days are those unexpected ones when I can figure out the word in two tries or less. :)
I strive to create a symbiotic community environment in my classroom, where Math Moments can happen and a growth mindset is fostered within my students! Thank you for sharing your sweet children with me! It is my privilege to work with them. I look forward to us having the best year together!!
