Hello! My name is Shelley Cano and I'm thrilled to call myself a Reed Owl. I went to New Mexico State University for undergraduate studies and George Washington University in Washington, DC for graduate studies. I have been teaching for many years (time flies!) I have taught in Washington, DC; Arlington, Virginia; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Texas! My husband and I are both natives of New Mexico and still love the area; but we've had some wonderful opportunities to live and work in other places as well.

We have 3 incredible children: Trey, Bella, & Juliet and an amazing Bernedoodle named Blueberry. I have always felt called to be a teacher and find much joy entering into our school each day.

I've been a classroom teacher, a Gifted/Talented teacher, and now a Dyslexia Therapist. I've loved each position, but especially love being a Dyslexia Therapist, which gives me the opportunity to help students break the reading code and become successful readers. Reading is a long-time favorite of mine and I enjoy any opportunity to spread the love of literature.
