My name is Jennifer Latimer and this is my 16th year at Norton. I have been in the teaching profession for 24 years. I have taught special education, 2nd grade, 4th grade and SSI.
I live in Allen with my husband Chris, our three daughters, and Dakota, our 2 year old lab/shepherd mix. Caroline is a junior at Allen High School, Gracie is a freshman,at the Lowery Freshman Center and Avery is a third grader at Norton.
When I am not working, I love playing tennis, scrapbooking, and spending time with family and friends.
In the Norton SSI lab we ensure that students who are identified to to receive services get the extra instruction and support they need to be successful in the classroom. Students are identified to receive SSI support through various reading and math assessments. Our team works in small groups with students in grades K-6 who need extra support in reading or math. SSI is a place for students to receive additional support in a specific content area, gain confidence, and help them become successful learners. Our goal is to provide our Knights with a stimulating learning environment that encourages all students to learn and grow. We collaborate with teachers in helping each student achieve his or her full potential academically and emotionally.
Mrs. Tye, Mrs. Villa-Cullar and myself look forward to a great year in SSI and we are all committed to making children feel confident about their learning. You may reach me anytime during my conference period or after school. My room number is 161, inside the multi-purpose room. Please don't hesitate to email or call me for any questions or concerns you have regarding SSI support.
