Welcome to Laura De La Borda's ESL Class!
I am thrilled to be teaching your child ESL (English as a Second Language) at Norton Elementary! I teach ESL to students in Grades K-6. I have been teaching 2nd and 3rd grade at Norton Elementary for 16 years. During that time I have taught many ESL students. This is my second year as an ESL teacher, and I am very excited!! Students generally attend my class Mondays through Thursdays where we work on Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing skills in English. My goal is to get our ESL students fluent in both Academic and Social English, so that they can be successful in the regular classroom.
Before coming to Norton, I lived in Guatemala for 2 years. There I taught 4th and 3rd grade students at Colegio Americano de Guatemala. I love learning about other cultures and countries. I looking forward to learning about all the different cultures that are represented at Norton.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My husband's name is Rick. He is from Lima, Peru. We have twin boys, Chrisitan and Stephen. They keep us very busy. When I have free time I like to travel, bake, read and scrapbook.
I am looking forward to a fantastic year with your child. If you have any questions please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
World Cultures Day is Feb. 7th, 2020. I hope that you will consider hosting a country booth this year. More details to come!
