I'm so excited to begin my third year as a sixth grade teacher! I'm also looking forward to seeing some familiar faces as my former third graders will now be the top dogs at Reed.
In adddition to my sixth grade experience, I have taught second, third, and fourth grades at Reed. I have taught first, fifth and sixth grades in other buildings and districts. I have also written curricula and have trained adults in various capacities. I have a degree in English from SMU so reading and writing are very dear to my heart. I want all the children in my class to LOVE reading and to be effective writers.
My husband Ken and I have been married forever. My younger daughter Kami is an Allen High School graduate and a former Reed Owl who is getting her masters degree at UNT in Denton. My older daughter Katie is an professor at a nursing college and is married to Sean. They are great parents to my two grandkids: Raigan who will be a first grader this year and Braxton who will be five in January. Being a Mimi is a ton of fun! I also have three cats and two dogs that provide me with lots of storytelling material.
It's going to be a great year in sixth grade! I look forward to working with families and students learning new and interesting things together.
