ABOUT STEAM
Welcome to the Allen ISD STEAM Center
Framing the vision for learning at the Allen ISD STEAM Center are several critical components. These include the district mission statement, “Allen ISD cultivates innovation in education that empowers every learner to realize his or her full potential” as well as the Allen High School Graduate Profile: Allen High School graduates will be Academically Prepared for Future Pursuits, Effective Problem-Solvers, Effective Communicators, and Responsible and Engaged Citizens.
The STEAM Facility
The Allen ISD STEAM Center is a unique facility dedicated to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics instruction. The center serves up to 500 high school students per class period in STEAM-related high school courses and it serves as a destination for elementary and middle school field experiences. The STEAM Center provides a foundational system of learning for all ages promoting curiosity, cultivating future-ready skills, and preparing Allen ISD students for success in STEAM-related areas.
The STEAM Center has purposefully designed spaces that provide an innovative learning environment both inside the building and outdoors. In addition to the 111,000-square-foot facility, the STEAM Center property includes a pond, nature trails, and outdoor learning spaces to be used by all grade levels.
The STEAM Center project was approved by Allen voters in 2015. The elementary and middle school portion opened in January 2019. High school students began attending STEAM classes in August 2019.
