Elementary Students Win Regional Science Fair Honors

Allen ISD elementary students won 14 awards at the recent North Dallas Elementary Regional Science Fair.

The fair is a collaborative effort of Allen, Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Garland, McKinney, Mesquite, Plano and Richardson school districts. The regional fair is an opportunity for students grades 1 through 6 to compete against students from nearby districts. Allen ISD had 40 students advance from the district fair.

Allen students winning regional awards are:

First place, grade 2: Juliana Surprise – Sherlock "Homes" Household Detective – Vaughan Elementary

First place, grade 5: Kiran Karthik – Computerized Student Pickup – Preston Elementary

Second place, grade 3: Emily Wu – Does the Size of the Parachute Effect Its' Landing? – Evans Elementary

Second Place, grade 4: Nishtha Baraiya, Ava Sastoque, and Dhruv Krishnatry – Carbon Dioxide Remover - Go for Green – Anderson Elementary.

Second place, grade 5: Inchara Kere – Wi-Fried – Boon Elementary

Second place, grade 6: Rhea Rajasekaran – It's Raining Acid – Evans Elementary

Third place, grade 3: Ramon Bagadion – Crystallization – Boyd Elementary

Third place, grade 5: Charlie Ostertag – Is the pH Right? – Bolin Elementary

Honorable Mention, grade 3: Andrea Rice – Flower Power – Chandler Elementary

Honorable Mention, grade 5: Lainey Kim – The Breaking Point – Vaughan Elementary

Honorable mention, grade 6: Alexander Stockmar, Austin Stockmar – Can You See Sound? – Reed Elementary
