STEAM Center Leadership Team Announced

Allen ISD has announced a new leadership team for the Allen ISD STEAM Center beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. Larry Labue will serve as the Executive Director, Richard Jordan will join as the STEAM Center Coordinator, and Kirk Evans will serve as the new Facilitator of K-8 Learning. The STEAM Center is a facility focused on providing innovative and enriching academic content in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. The STEAM Center opened to students in grades K-8 in January of 2019 and will welcome high school students this August.

 

Please read below for the bios for Larry, Richard, and Kirk.

 

Larry Labue has been selected as the new Executive Director of the Allen ISD STEAM Center.  The 2018-2019 school year marks Larry’s 19thyear in education.  Larry is currently serving in his third year as the Director of Professional Learning for the Allen Independent School District.   Prior to assuming his role as the Director of Professional Learning, Larry also served as the District K-12 Science Coordinator for seven years. Larry also has campus administration experience, as he served as the Principal of both Richardson Heights Elementary and Merriman Park Elementary, as well as Assistant Principal at Aiken Elementary, all in Richardson ISD. He has also taught first grade at Vincent Settlement Elementary School in Louisiana, and fourth grade and sixth-grade science at Merriman Park Elementary.

 

Richard Jordan has been selected as the Coordinator of the Allen Independent School STEAM Center.  The 2018-2019 school year marks Richard’s 15thyear in education.  Richard is currently serving in his fourth year as House Principal at Allen High School in the Allen Independent School District.  Prior to serving as House Principal, Richard served as the Allen ISD District K-12 Science Instructional Specialist for three years.  Richard has also served in the following capacities:  Aquatic Science, Biology and IPC Teacher/Coach at Allen High School for seven years and Biology Teacher/Coach at North Garland High School in the Garland Independent School District.  Richard also has experience as a marine biologist at the Dallas World Aquarium. 

 

Kirk Evans has been selected as the new Facilitator of K-8 Learning in the Allen ISD STEAM Center.  The 2018-2019 school year marks Kirk’s 21styear in education.  Kirk is currently serving in his first year as an Instructional Specialist at the Allen ISD STEAM Center.  Prior to assuming his role as an Instructional Specialist at the STEAM Center, Kirk also served as a fifth grade Science Teacher at Olson Elementary School, Norton Elementary School and Boyd Elementary School in the Allen Independent School District for the past 17 years.    He also taught in the Houston Independent School District and the Richardson Independent School District.  Kirk also has experience as a challenge-course consultant for Adventure Experiences, Inc.
