Allen ISD Earns Top Rating for Financial Integrity

Allen ISD has earned a letter grade of “A” along with a coinciding “superior” rating for financial accountability in the 2018-2019 school year. The superior rating is the highest awarded by the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), and Allen ISD has earned that ranking since the establishment of FIRST in 2001.

FIRST rates school districts on 15 separate financial indicators such as administrative cost expenditures and the accuracy of a district’s financial information submitted to TEA.

“I’d like to thank the Allen ISD Finance Department for its meticulous approach to financial management,” Superintendent Dr. Scott Niven said. “Allen ISD is dedicated to managing district funds efficiently so that we can maximize resources for our students, and this rating is a testament to that goal.”

The superior rating is one of many financial awards earned by Allen ISD. Additional awards include the Meritorious Budget Award from the Association of School Business Officials International in 2019, and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association. Allen ISD is also a current recipient of the Transparency Star award from the Texas Comptroller for financial transparency.
