Lowery Freshmen Raise $22,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation
Students partner with Macy’s-Fairview to reach goal
This holiday season, the Lowery Freshman Center helped raise more than $22,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The campus raised the money by writing letters to Santa, and Macy's in Fairview pledged $2 for every letter written. The initiative was started by students Shiv and Parth who set a goal of 10,000 total letters, and the student-body responded overwhelmingly with more than 11,000 letters.
Shiv, Parth and Lowery representatives delivered the letters to Macy's on December 6, and a special assembly to announce the total amount raised was held at Lowery on December 10.
Students learned about the importance of the Make-A-Wish Foundation on Nov. 18, and they wrote the letters during their Connections classes.
