A team of students from Allen ISD’s Steam Center earned third place in Texas in the platinum tier of the CyberPatriot competition. CyberPatriot encourages students to find and resolve cybersecurity vulnerabilities in simulated environments and is hosted by the Air Force Association’s National Youth Cyber Defense Competition.

The Allen ISD students demonstrated teamwork, critical thinking, and technical skills needed for a successful career in cybersecurity during the state-level competition in December. The Allen ISD team will compete this weekend in the national semifinals competition with a chance to advance to the CyberPatriot National Finals in Rockville, Md., in March.

The CyberPatriot competition was established by the Air Force Association in 2009. The competition is designed to educate and motivate students toward careers in cybersecurity and other science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation’s future.
