Matt Russell Named Allen High School Principal

Allen ISD has named Matt Russell as the new Principal of Allen High School. Russell has served as the principal of Ford Middle School in Allen ISD since 2016. He replaces former principal Dr. Jason Johnston after he was named AISD’s Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources.

“Matt Russell is an exemplary campus leader and a respected member of the Allen ISD community,” Robin Bullock, Allen ISD Superintendent, said. “He has a deep connection to our students, parents and staff, and he will be able to seamlessly transition into this new role. Matt has a proven record of building a strong campus culture, and I know that Allen High School will continue to flourish under his leadership.”

This fall will mark the start of Russell’s 25th year in education with 23 years of service in Allen ISD. Prior to Ford Middle School, he served in the following roles at Allen High School: Associate Principal for Administrative Services, House 300 Principal, Student Intervention Team Coordinator, 504 Coordinator, Inclusion Specialist, Vocational Adjustment Coordinator, Transition Specialist, Resource Math and Content Mastery Teacher. Russell began his career as a Resource Teacher at Nacogdoches High School.

“Allen is a special place because of the community’s involvement and dedication to supporting education. I am beyond honored to serve as the principal of Allen High School and continuing the culture of excellence that has been in place for the last several years,” Russell said. “I would like to thank the ‘Ford Family’ for an outstanding four-year partnership, and I look forward to working with the talented and innovative staff at AHS.”

Russell earned his master’s degree in school administration from Lamar University and his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and special education from Stephen F. Austin State University. He and his family live in Allen. Russell will begin his new role soon.
