Kim Garner Named Allen ISD’s Director of Athletics

Kim Garner has been named as the new Athletic Director for Allen Independent School District. Garner has been with Allen ISD for the past 21 years, with 13 of those as the Assistant Athletic Director.

Kim Garner “It is an absolute honor to be named the director for one of the greatest athletic programs in the state. I appreciate Superintendent Bullock’s confidence in me to lead this outstanding program,” said Garner. “I’ve valued every learning opportunity that I have had in this district, and I look forward to implementing a framework that focuses on kids first and allows all athletic programs to succeed. I appreciate the opportunity to build upon the history of success in Allen ISD while growing our athletic opportunities alongside an incredible coaching staff. I’d like to thank Steve Williams, outgoing Athletic Director, for providing me an opportunity to be his assistant. Without his leadership and friendship, I would not be in this position today. I look forward to continuing his legacy.”

During her tenure as Assistant Athletic Director, Allen High School won 19 University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Championships in golf, football, wrestling, and basketball. Prior to serving as the assistant director, Garner coached the AHS softball team and served as a PE teacher. Before joining Allen, Garner worked for five years in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. Garner earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Angelo State University.

“With a passion for Allen ISD and commitment to furthering opportunities for students, Kim Garner will be an excellent Athletic Director,” said Dr. Robin Bullock, Superintendent of Schools. “Athletics, like other extracurricular programs, are integral in helping our students build teamwork, accountability, and leadership skills. I know that Kim will promote a positive culture throughout the program that best supports our student-athletes and coaches. She will also be a great advocate within the community to share the success stories of our athletic programs.”

In this new position, Garner brings a detail-oriented level of organization and leadership, and she plans to strengthen the culture of excellence for all athletic programs. Garner credits UIL Director of Athletics, Dr. Susan Elza, as well as Williams, for serving as trusted mentors over the years.
