The Allen High School Chamber Orchestra participated in the TMEA State Honor String Contest over the October 20-21 weekend. String Orchestras from across Texas entered recordings of their concert performances for the contest. The AHS Chamber Orchestra advanced to the finals on Saturday and received their final ranking on Sunday – placing 4th in the State. This is the highest State rank the AHS Chamber String Orchestra has placed in its history.
Three hundred and twenty HS orchestra students from Allen, McKinney, Rockwall, Sherman, and Wylie ISDs auditioned for the TMEA Region 25 Orchestras on Saturday, October 20. Out of 124 available spots, Allen ISD had 73 High School students who earned a chair in one of the two Region HS Orchestras. These students will perform in the Region XXV Concerts on December 7 in the Allen ISD Performing Arts Center.
