Character Trait of the Month!!

The character trait for the month of May is Responsibility.

Responsibility is defined as being accountable for choices within one’s power and control. There are many kinds of responsibility. We are all responsible for keeping our own bodies safe and healthy; for being kind, respectful and helpful to our family, friends, neighbors and classmates; and taking care of the things that affect everyone in our community, country and earth.

Everyone needs to take responsibility for their own actions. We must always think before we speak or act, in order to make responsible choices. Responsibility is an important part of growing up! The more you do to show responsibility, the more you are trusted to take on additional responsibilities. Then, with that growth of responsible behavior, you are given more trust, freedom and privileges.

Talk as a family about each of your responsibilities. How do children and parent responsibilities differ? How can children help parents with their responsibilities and how can parents help children increase their responsibility?
