McLaughlin Named Assistant Superintendent

Kim McLaughlin has been named and approved as the new Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership and Support.  McLaughlin is currently executive director for the same department.  She replaces Robin Bullock who was named as Allen ISD Superintendent of Schools in January.

Board Approves Technology Purchase

The Board approved the purchase of technology and technology infrastructure upgrades at a cost of $2.4 million for Ford Middle School, Anderson, Chandler and Rountree Elementary Schools. An additional $1.5 million was approved for a technology equipment refresh at Ford Middle School and Rountree Elementary School.   A portion of the funds are coming form the 2015 Bond authorization.  The refresh funds are coming from the 2019-2020 technology budget.

Board Approves Payment of Salary For All Employees During Emergency Closure

The Board approved a resolution to continue paying salary during the emergency closure for all non-exempt school employees. All hourly employees will receive pay for work days that are not scheduled to be made up at a later date. Exempt or contract employees were already being paid per school district policy.

Board Authorizes Superintendent To Make Emergency Payments

The Board authorized the superintendent to make purchases or enter into contracts that cost $75,000 or more if seeking prior approval by the Board would delay, prevent or substantially impair the conduct of essential school activities.

Board Awards Contracts For Legal Services

The Board awarded the contract for legal services to three law firms including:

Abernathy, Roeder, Boyd & Hullett, P.C.

Powell, Youngblood & Taylor, LLP

Walsh, Gallegos, Trevino, Russo and Lyle P.C.

Board Approves Contract With External Auditor

The Board voted to engage K. Evans & Associates to perform the annual audit of Allen ISD fiscal accounts for the year ending on June 30, 2020. 

Board Votes To Postpone May Election

The Board voted to postpone the May 2, 2020 election until November 3, 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis.  Collin County has already postponed their May election and the City of Allen is considering the action at their March 24 meeting.  The Board of Trustee election will be held in November.  The scheduled Attendance Credit Election is currently rescheduled for November but a final decision cannot be made without approval from the State.
