Monica Daily and Chris Brooks Recognized for Redesigning Career-Ready Learning at LFC
Monica Daily and Chris Brooks from Lowery Freshman Center were recognized for their leadership and vision in redesigning the Connections/Employability Skills course, a foundational course that serves every student.
By incorporating real-world CTE lessons into a high-impact, full-credit experience, they help students develop essential employability skills while preparing for post-secondary success.
Their collaborative work connects classroom learning with authentic career readiness, strengthens opportunities for hands-on learning and supports the campus's CCMR goals while helping students build connections with their peers.
STEAM Center Pre-K – 8 Team Recognized for Creating Hands-On STEAM Learning
The STEAM Center Pre-K – 8 Team, Rachel Boswell, Amy Rogers, Savinder Johnson and Kirk Evans, were recognized for their collaboration and commitment to creating engaging STEAM learning experiences for 6th graders across Allen ISD.
The team has designed and expanded lessons that allow students to investigate soil biodiversity, explore nature-inspired art, code drones, design and build lighthouses with SAM Labs and create Rube Goldberg-style chain reactions.
Through these experiences, students practice communication, problem-solving, design, testing, iteration, collaboration and creative thinking while participating in meaningful hands-on learning that encourages curiosity and exploration.
